Shroud of Turin: This is believed by many to be the burial shroud of Jesus. It has the image of his face and body on it, appearing as a photographic negative. If a photo is taken of it, the negative of the photo shows, clearly, details that correspond to what is know of his punishment and crucifixion. Many tests were performed on small samples of the fabric taken from the edge of the material. (Only small portions were allowed by the church authorities to be taken.) One of the tests is called Carbon 14 dating.

Carbon dating of a substance is based on the percentage of radioactive carbon 14 in a once-living substance. Carbon 14 decays at a known rate. The less carbon 14 in comparison to carbon 12, (normal carbon) the older the substance.) Based on the results of this test, the shroud was found to be less than 1,000 years old.

Here is my thought on this: Is it possible that a burst of radiation at the moment of Jesus’ ascension increased the proportion of (radioactive) carbon 14 in the shroud which centuries later caused an erroneous reading in the dating of the shroud?

There are other theories as well. One is that the edges of the shroud were repaired in medieval times with newer threads by “invisible weaving” repair (in which the tapestry weavers of that time were experts.) This would explain why samples from the edge of the shroud appear to be from the middle ages.

“Dear Fellow Searcher,
I am really looking forward to your thoughts on what comes next, as I am really starting to figure things out myself!

Thank you Karen. I agree. I think there is also a third part of us called the soul, and that this is our memory bank of all that we’ve experienced through our many non-physical and physical lifetimes. I believe the name of the game is soul development. I remember reading somewhere that the great spiritual master St. Germaine, when asked how he got to his level of development, said, ”By making two million correct decisions.” How many lifetimes are indicated by this statement? A hundred? A thousand? More? It would seem that it’s a long process to reach perfection.

This is my initial, opening post to my blog site. Have you ever wondered about life, life before physical life, life after physical life? Have you questions about the cosmos, the universe, how it started, where is it headed? What is birth? What is death? Beyond this physical life and our individual, personal identities is there something more, and greater. I don't pretend to have the answers to these questions, but I wish to pose questions and give my opinions on these matters that are beyond our normal, apparent physical life existences and that I think should be investigated while we are still in our physical bodies so as to prepare ourselves and, perhaps, others, for the continuation of our cosmic journey. I don't wish to disturb anyone by suggesting that their religious beliefs, what they have been taught all their lives, falls short in describing the true nature of things, but they do. So please read no further if you are likely to become overly upset or angry. If you are satisfied with what you have been taught to believe, if you are comfortable with it, if it fills your needs and are satisfied, please enjoy your beliefs, be happy, go in peace and God bless you.

I must apologize for the adamant statement above regarding the possible shortcoming of conventional earthly religious organizations. I am no one to judge, but I must offer my opinion. Also, I am only familiar with the Christian religion with its Judean background. According to that belief, the world is only 5700 years old, if taken literally. We believe now, from scientific study that the earth is 4.5 billion years old and the universe is 13 billion years old. Therefore, we should look more favorably on a religion that presents a more distant origin (perhaps the Hindu religion.)

We also tend to look at existence from a very local limited view (from our own little planet, orbiting an average star.) Consider this: Astronomers have now detected planets orbiting other stars. They state that there about one billion galaxies in the observable universe and that there about one billion stars in the average galaxy. If we estimate, very conservatively, that only one percent of stars have planets, that only one percent of those planets have life, and that only one percent of these have intelligent life, that gives us one thousand billion planets (one trillion) with intelligent life.

If we logically realize that there may be a trillion planets in the universe inhabited with intelligent life, we should have a vastly different perspective of existence than that with which we have grown up. We can also conjecture that half of these planetary inhabitants are more developed than we are (mentally, technologically, perhaps even spiritually.) I am not saying we should throw out all the major religions of this planet, with much good that they preach and practice, but we should evaluate what they put forth and our own understanding of the universe and existence from a broader perspective.

For example, is there just one God for a trillion planets with, perhaps, several billion trillion inhabitants? Are there various levels of a spiritual hierarchy? Some believe that the God (Brahma, Yahweh, Allah or whomever) of our solar system is a spiritual being named Sanat Kumara. Below him, it is felt, are the great spiritual masters Lord Maitreya, Lord Sananda (Jesus, the Christ.), Lord Buddha and others. Is it possible that each star with its satellite planets has its own spiritual head master (God) and spiritual master guides and teachers? Is there a galactic hierarchy over all the billion stellar leaders? Is there a universal hierarchy over all the billion galactic leaders? Interesting questions, are they not?

I’m interested in what you think. Please, if you wish to voice your opinion, email me at: jack_keller@mindspring.com. Please put “Blog” in the subject line so I can pick it out of all the other, less important stuff I receive. Thanks.

I hope to cover many topics in future blogs such as:

And many others, including a list of books that I feel to be important
